About the Toy Library

The Toy Library Toys inside the Toy Library

A sub committee of the Honeylands League of Friends runs the Toy Library, who employ a Toy Librarian to assist members.

The Toy Library is located in a portacabin at the rear of Honeylands Children's Centre.

Many of the toys are specially designed to help a child learn a particular skill. Other are toys that you would find in the High Street stores. The library stock everything from musical instruments, puzzles, games, books, videotapes, imaginative and contructive toys as well as lots for babies.

Toys are sterilised and cleaned before they are lent out.

There are no additional borrowing fees or late charges, although there is a small additional charge for borrowing videotapes.

The annual fee includes membership to the Honeylands League of Friends and the hire chanrge for any toys borrowed during the year. The hire charge is a nominal fee, which helps to cover the cost of cleaning and repairing the toys.

THE JACK GODFREY SUPPORT FUNDS CRUSADE! TO PROVIDE FOR HONEYLANDS A NEW BUILDING FOR THE TOY LIBRARY.

As you will see on our website page here, Honeylands has an extensive library of toys which they lend out to families, currently these toys are held in an old portacabin type building which you can see at the top of the page. This current building is now very old and dilapidated and is now beginning to leak and soon and is at the end of its useful life. Soon the toys will be at risk if something is not done fairly quickly.

This is the priority thrust of this crusade for Honeylands which David has started, to provide for Honeylands a brand new building, fully kitted out, and ready to accommodate the present and hopefully some new toys as well.

Here you see a picture of the inside of the toy library, packed to capacity with all sorts of exciting items for children to play with.

The provision of the new building will take place in three stages.

STAGE ONE.....Obtain the necessary funds for the new building, then remove the old building and site the new one in the existing place.

STAGE TWO.....Equip the new building with cupboards and shelving to accommodate the toys.

STAGE THREE.....Obtain some new toys for the toy library from various sources.
